MapleStory M is Nexon's Most Up-to-date attempt to deliver the MapleStory MMORPG to Android. In October of 2016 premiered in Korea, but there wasn't any word regarding a English release. Well, it looks like we now know for certain that an English version is coming stateside as a public beta is on the Play Store right now.
Now, one thing you may wish to remember is that the recent English listing of MapleStory M will only be available on the Play Store before January 30th. Therefore, in the event that you want to jump into the MMORPG gameplay, then you should do so post haste, since the clock is counting down. It's also worth pointing out that the game's servers will soon be wiped after this beta is finished, so any progress you make in the sport is going to be lost when it is officially published. Fortunately any in-app purchases that will definitely be in the last release are not active for this beta, so there is no way to eliminate any cash while analyzing out the title.
If you are not familiar with MapleStory, it is a highly popular Korean 2D MMORPG that's been available on PC since 2003. Yes it's super grindy, and yes it's very pay-to-win, but that has never seemed to stop any of its fans. In terms of what sets MapleStory M apart from its PC predecessor, well, not too much, and that's a fantastic thing. Sure there are a couple quality of life enhancements for easier touchscreen controls. One of those is that the inclusion of an auto questing button in the top left of the display, just like you would expect to see in the majority of cellular MMOs out there. Of course, any automobile characteristics are optional, which means you are free to perform how you like, which is great for those of us who plan on playing manually.
Oh, and if you were counting on any type of control service, the current beta has no such attribute. Maybe this will probably be added in later, but that is most likely a stretch since the game was available in Korea for a little more than a year now, so much as I know it doesn't have control support either.
Overall, I must say I was amazed to watch MapleStory M Appear on the Play Store having an English version. I'm even more excited since it is indeed a whole lot closer if not almost exactly the same as the PC version. Sure the super grindy gameplay won't be for everybody, and there is no doubt that Nexon will be nickel and diming its fans once the game's IAPs are dwell in the final product. But even with all the regular complaints, there is something very endearing about the game that is tough to just shrug off.
